Moyes talks about AFC Bournemouth, Kalvin Phillips, and Danny Ings.

David Moyes is excited to see what new addition Kalvin Phillips has to give when he makes his Claret and Blue debut.

The England international has been practicing with West Ham United for little under a week, having joined on loan from Manchester City on Friday. While Moyes is ‘not sure’ whether the midfielder is ready to make his Hammers debut against AFC Bournemouth at London Stadium on Thursday evening, the manager feels Philips will have much to show during his time in east London.

The Club’s January transfer window purchase was the topic of many questions during Thursday’s pre-match media responsibilities, with Moyes responding questions regarding Phillips’ character and talent during his press conference.

The boss pondered on

Welcome Kalvin!

Kalvin’s track record over the years has convinced me that he is a player I want to have at the Club. He has been a regular member of the England national team for the past five or six years, and I believe he is a very talented player.

His move to Manchester City has probably not gone as smoothly as he had hoped. I hope we can give him a chance to show what he can achieve. We brought in Jesse Lingard a few years back, and he was quite helpful. I hope Kalvin has a similar influence.

Everyone has something to prove. I believe Kalvin has as well, and there’s a huge international European tournament coming at the end.

Blades reflections

There were some facets of the Sheffield United game that were not as excellent as I had hoped.

We turned the ball too often and gave it away far too frequently. We ended up drawing a game that we should have saw through and won.

We want to improve our ball control, but there were other factors at play in that game. However, the performance was not particularly good.

Impressive Iraola
Andoni Iraola has done an excellent job at Bournemouth. He has taken his time settling in, as he is entitled to, and I believe he has them playing very well. They’ve had some excellent results, and we’re up against a formidable opponent.

It is tough not to say.

A different Danny Ings

We really want Danny to become the Danny we want to see. He’s demonstrated this previously with his objectives, and I’m eager for him to set goals for us. He demonstrated it for us when he came, scoring against Nottingham Forest.

He hasn’t had as many opportunities owing to circumstances, such as Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen playing as centre-forwards, which has slowed his amount of game time, and I’m certain that the more he gets, the better.

I felt he performed quite well against Sheffield United. We played him in a deeper role, which I believe benefited him a little. I hope he has stored up his opportunities for the next weeks.
