David Moyes’ chat with Celtic causes dead air, as angry supporters caution against ‘over the top’ Brendan Rodgers axe cries

The West Ham boss has been pitched by one punter as the solution to all Parkhead problems.

The Clyde 1 panel including Andy Halliday field calls on Celtic

Former Rangers hero Andy Halliday offered a defence of Brendan Rodgers with the Celtic boss coming in for stick – with one fan demand David Moyes is considered as a replacement.

The Parkhead panic button has been pressed after the Hoops slip-up against Kilmarnock also Rangers to climb to the Scottish Premiership summit with a win over St Johnstone – leading to the Celtic board, players and boss coming under fire.

The tactics of the Irishman have been thrown into the question by some sections of the support with Philippe Clement’s side building momentum in their pursuit of the title.

Furious Clyde 1 Superscoreboard caller Stewart demanded that the club move on from the second era of Rodgers quickly, before Motherwell star Halliday leapt to the defence of the under-fire boss. Halliday said: “I think calls for Rodgers to leave or walk away are way over the top for me. I’m also fully conscious that their next game is against Motherwell – so I am fully expected a better Celtic team next week.

“But I don’t think Celtic’s issues can be pointed in one direction whether that be the manager, the board or the players. I think that it is spread across the board really.

“I think they have lost that ruthless streak they had last year – where if they go one up they quickly get a second. I think we are now seeing them be pretty wasteful – not only in an attacking sense but in both boxes. “

David Moyes’ future as West Ham boss remains uncertain

Caller Stewart then followed up with a demand that Rodgers be shown the door for West Ham boss Moyes with Scotland gaffer Steve Clarke also being floated. He said: “The names that come to my mind are David Moyes and Steve Clarke would also be a potential one with the Euros coming up. Off the top of my head there are not too many.”

The panel were left speechless before host Gordon Duncan quickly moved the conversation on. The Hammers boss is under pressure at the London Stadium with the club being without a win in 2024. However, the Scot has taken the side to ninth in the English Premier League so far this term – and won the Europa Conference League last season.
