Crimson Tide Track & Field Athletes Honored for Leadership and Community Service
The University of Alabama’s track and field program continues to excel not only in athletic performance but also in leadership and community engagement. Two standout athletes, Dylan Wood and Tristan Barr, have been named to the 2025 SEC Track & Field/Cross Country Community Service Team, recognizing their exemplary dedication to service beyond the track.
This accolade highlights student-athletes who demonstrate a strong commitment to community service, embodying the values of the Southeastern Conference. Wood and Barr’s inclusion underscores the Crimson Tide’s emphasis on holistic development, fostering leaders who contribute positively to society.
In addition to these honors, the Alabama Athletics Department celebrated its annual Crimson Choice Awards, presented by the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). This event acknowledges outstanding achievements in academics, athletics, and community involvement. SAAC President Jace Jones and Executive Committee member Barry Evans, both from the track and field/cross country teams, played pivotal roles in the ceremony, reflecting the program’s leadership within the athletic department.
These recognitions align with the broader success of Alabama’s track and field athletes. Notably, sophomore Doris Lemngole has had an exceptional season, securing victories in the 5000m and 3000m events. Her achievements have positioned her as a contender for The Bowerman Award, the highest honor in collegiate track and field.
The University of Alabama’s commitment to excellence is evident in its athletes’ performances and their contributions to the community. As the Crimson Tide continues to build on its legacy, the integration of athletic prowess with leadership and service remains a cornerstone of its program.
