Motorist Indicted in Fatal Accident Involving Minnesota Vikings’ Khyree Jackson and Teammates
More than six months after the tragic automobile accident that claimed the lives of Minnesota Vikings cornerback Khyree Jackson and two of his high school teammates, a motorist has been formally charged in connection with the fatal crash.
During a press conference held on Thursday, Aisha Braveboy, the State’s Attorney for Prince George’s County, Maryland, announced that 23-year-old Cori Clingman was taken into custody following a grand jury’s 13-count indictment. The indictment includes charges of grossly negligent and criminally negligent vehicular manslaughter, as well as vehicular manslaughter related to driving under the influence. Clingman was arrested without incident and is scheduled to have a bond hearing on Friday.
According to the Maryland State Police report, the accident occurred in Upper Marlboro, Maryland, on July 6 at 3:14 a.m. EDT. Jackson was a passenger in a Dodge Charger involved in a three-vehicle collision. The preliminary investigation revealed that Clingman, driving an Infiniti Q50, attempted a high-speed lane change and struck both the Charger and a Chevrolet Impala. This collision caused the Charger to veer off the road, hitting several tree stumps.
While the occupants of the Infiniti and the Impala were uninjured, the three individuals in the Charger were not as fortunate. Driver Isaiah Hazel and passenger Anthony Lytton Jr., both of whom were Jackson’s teammates from Dr. Henry Wise Jr. High School, were killed in the crash alongside Jackson.
