The Georgia Bulldogs have landed a significant addition to their 2025 basketball recruiting class with the commitment of 7-foot-1 center Jackson McVey. Hailing from Ellijay, Georgia, McVey currently plays for Overtime Elite in Atlanta after transferring from Gilmer High School. During his junior season, he averaged 26.2 points, 15.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game .
McVey chose Georgia over offers from Florida, Florida State, Georgia Tech, and Stanford. He cited the Bulldogs’ coaching staff and the opportunity to play close to home as key factors in his decision. “They showed me they wanted me the most,” McVey told 247Sports. “They’re close to home, and they have a playstyle that benefits me” .
Ranked No. 217 nationally according to the On3 Industry Rankings, McVey is Georgiaβs third commitment for the 2025 class, joining four-star prospects Jacob Wilkins and Kareem Stagg . His addition gives Georgia the No. 7 recruiting class for the 2025 cycle in the 247Sports Composite rankings .
McVey’s size and skill set are expected to make an immediate impact for the Bulldogs. His ability to score both inside and outside, coupled with his shot-blocking and rebounding prowess, adds a new dimension to Georgia’s frontcourt. As he prepares for his senior season at Overtime Elite, McVey’s development will be closely watched by fans and coaches alike.
With McVey on board, head coach Mike White continues to build a formidable roster aimed at elevating Georgia’s competitiveness in the SEC. The Bulldogs’ recent recruiting successes signal a promising future for the program.
