Liam Scales has admitted that there has been “nothing really” in terms of contract talks at Celtic, despite Brendan Rodgers’ claims that conversations were underway.
The centre-back has been an important player for Celtic this season despite being uncertain about his future with the club in the summer.
Scales joined the club after a lot of defensive injuries and has never left owing to his solid performance this season.
And Rodgers has revealed he was eager to offer Scales a new contract at Parkhead following his promotion to the first team.
The Celtic boss even suggested earlier this month that club chiefs were in talks with Scales’ representatives.
However, Scales explained there has been “nothing really of note” regarding a new contract as of yet.
“There’s been nothing really of note, it’s been quiet enough” admitted Scales. “I’m sure that if it happens my agent will be dealing with that and I’ll be playing my games.”
Earlier this month, Rodgers said: “I believe the club is in talks with Liam’s agent and he’s really happy because he’s playing.
“I’m sure that will get sorted out in due course. It’s been an amazing story for him.
“Getting our business done early is something that’s important for us but it’s never straightforward in January trying to get good players in.
“Sometimes you can be working on something for three or four months then it changes.
“We know what we want to do over the course of January and the summer and I’m sure we’ll get them in quickly.”
