Brendan Rodgers laughs Celtic over crisis talk and reiterates long-term aspirations.

The Hoops boss insists the transfer market activity has not left him frustrated.

Brendan Rodgers has refuted suggestions he is unhappy at Celtic and that he was having crisis talks with the board.

It comes after the Hoops manager went into the January transfer window stating he wanted several additions of quality with winger Nicolas Kuhn coming in from Rapid Vienna fairly early. Towards the end of the month they were looking at possibly a left-back, midfielder and a striker before securing only the latter with Adam Idah coming in on loan from English Championship side Norwich.

The general feeling of fans is that it has been underwhelming and it was expected Rodgers would feel the same given his previous comments. But despite admitting yesterday that the club could have been “braver” in the market and that he understood fans’ concerns, the Northern Irishman has laughed off suggestions the situation has left him unhappy in his role

.He said: “There were reports that I’m this really unhappy person and I flew out to Switzerland or somewhere after the game the other day, which I found strange when I was reading it in Finnieston.

“It might have [angered me] years ago but certainly not now. There was something else that came out that again wasn’t true.

“I have the greatest respect for the people here at the club. I always wanted to come back to Celtic and I knew it wasn’t going to feel straight away like the first time because people were hurt. And they probably still are.

“There’s probably still a wee bit of that of people thinking, ‘how long is he going to be here?’ and ‘can we trust him?’

“But I want to give everything, and I want to be here as long as I possibly can be. If I can have success here with the team and we can look forward and into Europe then brilliant.
