Canadian National Rowing Team joins competitive Longhorn Invite field
The Canadian National Team is set to participate in the Longhorn Invite on April 25-26 at Lake Walter E. Long, joining an already stacked field including No. 2 Stanford, No. 15 Central Florida, No. 20 Oklahoma and SMU.
AUSTIN, Texas – Adding onto an already loaded competition field, the Canadian National Team will participate at the 2025 Longhorn Invite on April 25-26 at Lake Walter E. Long in Austin, Texas, No. 1 Texas Rowing Head Coach Dave O’Neill announced Wednesday.
Along with the Canadian National Team, the Longhorn Invite’s field includes No. 2 Stanford, No. 15 Central Florida, No. 20 Oklahoma and SMU, respectively. Team Canada won silver in the Women’s Eight at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games in August.
“What is certain to be an exciting morning of racing just got a lot more interesting with the addition of the Canadian senior squad,” O’Neill said. “They have a solid squad, and I’m sure this group will include a number of women who won a silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. Their coach, Tom Morris, and I have been working together on this for some time, and it’s come together rather quickly the last couple of weeks. I’m thrilled they are coming down to join us and Stanford at the Longhorn Invite.”
Canada will only race on Saturday, April 25, in a three-boat race against the Texas and Stanford I Eights. Prior to the Longhorn Invite, Canada will be in Austin for a short training camp.
The Longhorn Invite will feature proper 2k races for the second-straight year. More Longhorn Invite fan information will be communicated prior to the regatta.
