BYU Women’s Basketball Adds Global Firepower with 2025 International Commitments
The BYU Cougars are expanding their reach across borders with the addition of international talent to their 2025 recruiting class, signaling a strategic push to bring global versatility and skill to Provo. Head coach Lee Cummard and his staff have secured commitments from standout prospects in Europe and Oceania, strengthening BYU’s depth and diversity ahead of its continued Big 12 competition.
Among the new additions is a dynamic guard from Spain, praised for her playmaking instincts and on-ball defense, and a forward from New Zealand with an elite rebounding motor and soft shooting touch. These international athletes not only bring a fresh perspective to the roster, but they also reflect the coaching staff’s growing global recruiting connections.
“We’re really excited about the character and potential of this group,” said Coach Cummard. “They’ve played at a high level in their respective countries, and they’re hungry to compete and grow. That’s exactly the mentality we want in our program.”
International recruiting has become increasingly important for programs looking to compete at the Power Five level. BYU’s ability to attract overseas talent speaks to the credibility it has built in the women’s basketball community, as well as the appeal of the university’s academic standards and values-based culture.
For the incoming players, BYU offers a unique blend of competitive basketball, personal development, and faith-driven mentorship. The coaching staff is confident that this class will make an immediate impact—not only on the court but also in the locker room and community.
With the addition of these new international stars, the Cougars are deepening their roster and broadening their horizons, both literally and figuratively. As BYU builds toward sustained success in the Big 12, global talent will be a major part of that equation.
