The No. 19 BYU men’s golf team has advanced to the final round of stroke play at the 2025 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Championship, held at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California. After 54 holes, the Cougars sit in 12th place with a total score of 878 (+14), securing a spot among the top 15 teams that move on to Monday’s fourth round.
BYU’s performance has been marked by consistency, with rounds of 289, 300, and 289. Notably, the team played their third round on Thursday, ahead of other competitors, due to scheduling accommodations. This early round proved advantageous, as their score held up well against the field.
Individually, sophomore Peter Kim has been a standout, currently tied for 22nd on the player leaderboard at +1. His steady play has been instrumental in keeping BYU competitive in a strong field.
Looking ahead, the Cougars aim to climb into the top eight to qualify for the match play portion of the championship. They trail the eighth-place teams—Texas Tech, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M—by just two strokes, making Monday’s round critical for their advancement hopes.
Top-ranked Auburn leads the tournament at -10, followed by Arizona State at -6 and Oklahoma at -3. The final round of stroke play will determine the eight teams that advance to match play, with the championship concluding on May 28.
