BYU Football: Eight Former Cougars Secure NFL Opportunities After Going Undrafted
Despite no BYU players being selected in the 2025 NFL Draft, eight former Cougars have found opportunities in the professional ranks, signing as undrafted free agents or receiving minicamp invitations.
Tyler Batty, a standout defensive end, signed with the Minnesota Vikings. Over his BYU career, Batty amassed 224 tackles, 34 tackles for loss, and 16.5 sacks, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors in 2024. His consistent pass-rushing ability made him a top undrafted prospect.
Jakob Robinson, a productive cornerback, joined the San Francisco 49ers. Known for his speed and agility, Robinson recorded multiple interceptions during his collegiate tenure, showcasing his playmaking skills in the secondary.
Caleb Etienne, an offensive tackle, signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Etienne started all 13 games at left tackle in 2024, earning First-Team All-Big 12 honors. His impressive size and arm length make him a promising addition to the Bengals’ offensive line.
Blake Mangelson, a versatile defensive lineman, secured a deal with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mangelson’s ability to play both defensive end and tackle positions adds depth to the Steelers’ defensive front.
Darius Lassiter, a wide receiver, signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars. In 2024, Lassiter recorded 45 receptions for 703 yards and four touchdowns, demonstrating reliable hands and route-running capabilities.
Additionally, Brayden Keim (offensive tackle) received minicamp invitations from the Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears, while Connor Pay (center) was invited to the Las Vegas Raiders’ minicamp.
These opportunities reflect the resilience and talent of BYU’s football program, as these former Cougars aim to make their mark in the NFL.
