BYU defensive back Chika Ebunoha has officially entered the NCAA transfer portal, seeking new opportunities to continue his collegiate football career. Ebunoha, who spent three seasons with the Cougars primarily contributing on special teams, announced his decision on April 18, 2025.
During his tenure at BYU, Ebunoha played 39 defensive snaps and was credited with two tackles. He also participated in 58 special teams snaps, showcasing his versatility and commitment to the team’s success.
Following his entry into the transfer portal, Ebunoha committed to Utah State University, joining the Aggies as part of their post-spring transfer additions. He chose Utah State over offers from Abilene Christian, East Texas A&M, Hawaii, and Northern Colorado.
Ebunoha becomes the seventh post-spring transfer portal addition for Utah State, joining other newcomers such as Elon cornerback Dylan Tucker and Purdue offensive lineman Jimmy Liston. His addition is part of a broader trend, with Utah State acquiring multiple former BYU players this offseason, indicating a developing pipeline between the two programs.
With two years of eligibility remaining, Ebunoha aims to make a significant impact on the Aggies’ defense. His experience and dedication are expected to bolster Utah State’s secondary as they prepare for the upcoming season.
