Bruins GM Shares Latest On Morgan Geekie Contract Talks

Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney recently provided an update on the team’s contract negotiations with forward Morgan Geekie, emphasizing the club’s intention to retain the 26-year-old player. Geekie is set to become a restricted free agent this offseason after a standout 2024–25 season in which he scored a career-high 33 goals and 57 points, ranking third on the team in scoring.

Sweeney acknowledged Geekie’s significant contributions and expressed a desire to secure a long-term deal, stating, “We know he’s going to be on our team next year regardless, but we’d prefer to have him on a longer-term deal. He had a hell of a year.” He further noted that the Bruins are exploring various contract options, considering factors such as term and average annual value (AAV), to find a mutually beneficial agreement.

Geekie has also expressed his desire to remain with the Bruins, stating, “I love playing in Boston. My family loves it here. It’s one of those things I really hope works out.” As the team approaches the offseason, securing Geekie to a new contract is a priority for the Bruins’ management.
