Brian Robinson Jr. Reignites for Commanders’ NFC Championship Push

In the Washington Commanders’ regular-season finale and first-round playoff game, running back Brian Robinson Jr. recorded 26 yards on 15 rushing attempts, marking the lowest total in back-to-back games of his NFL career.

However, in Washington’s 45-31 upset over NFC top-seed Detroit, Robinson rebounded impressively with 77 yards and two touchdowns on 15 carries on January 18 against the Lions.

“It’s definitely good to regain my rhythm after lacking explosive plays recently,” Robinson commented. “I always trust in my abilities and know that at any moment, the big plays will come. I’m always ready for those opportunities.”

Robinson’s performance was crucial in helping Washington advance to the NFC Championship Game. The Commanders are set to face the Philadelphia Eagles at 2 p.m. CST on Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, with FOX broadcasting the game.

“It’s the perfect time to build momentum,” Robinson added. “The key is to sustain it, keep that fire burning. It’s the ideal momentum going into this game, and I’m excited to see how it all unfolds.”

A former standout at Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa and Alabama, Robinson rushed for 799 yards and eight touchdowns on 187 carries in 14 regular-season games in his third NFL season. He had three 100-yard games in 2024, but his 77-yard performance in the Divisional Round was his best since a 103-yard, one-touchdown game against the Tennessee Titans on December 1.

Two days before the game against Detroit, Commanders coach Dan Quinn met with Robinson and showed him highlights of his best plays.

“It was the perfect reassurance any player would want from their head coach,” Robinson said. “Watching those plays, it reminded me of who I am and what I’m capable of. DQ earned a lot of my respect, not just from that moment but from several instances where he showed he genuinely cares about my success.”
