Although Chelsea is currently on an impressive streak under Mauricio Pochettino, with an eight-game unbeaten run and no losses in regular time for two months, they are considered significant underdogs in the FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City. The two teams have already played to draws twice this season in engaging matches, but that may not be enough for Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City is still aiming for a double win despite their recent penalty shootout loss to Real Madrid. They hold a (possibly temporary) two-point lead at the top of the Premier League and can now focus solely on domestic games in the final weeks of the season.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are aiming for their second final this season after a disappointing loss to Liverpool in the Carabao Cup in February. Although Chelsea’s form has improved, their failure to secure wins against Brentford, Burnley, and Sheffield United has raised concerns about Pochettino’s future.

A trip to Wembley would be a huge boost for Pochettino, but Manchester City remains strong favorites for the match, even with limited recovery time and emotional challenges. Former Chelsea forward Chris Sutton, writing for the BBC, noted that City didn’t deserve to be eliminated from the Champions League and needs to quickly refocus.

Manchester City’s primary goal now is to become the first team in English league history to win the title four years in a row, and exiting the Champions League will aid that goal. Guardiola is keen on winning trophies, including another FA Cup.

While Chelsea has managed to draw against City twice this season and could be dangerous with Palmer in the team, the recent disagreement over penalties highlights the team’s current disorganization. Pochettino needs to establish harmony in the locker room.

Simon Jordan from talkSPORT suggests that Pochettino may have turned a corner at Chelsea, though he doesn’t expect them to make it to the FA Cup final. Sometimes a turnaround only begins after hitting rock bottom, and Chelsea may be on their way up now.
