Two children killed and Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes injured in crash in Largo.
Teammates, on social media, have sent prayers to Hayes. Hayes, who grew up in Largo, appeared in 11 games for UM as a freshman last season, playing eight snaps on defense and 145 on special teams. He had four tackles and an interception in a Sept. 7 win against Florida A&M. Hayes was a four-star prospect out of Largo High and chose UM over offers from Florida, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Notre Dame and Ohio State, among others. Rivals ranked him the No. 43 prospect nationally (and the No. 3 linebacker) in the 2024 recruiting class, 247 Sports ranked him 73rd overall and ESPN rated him 77th. He had 108 tackles as a senior at Largo High.
Miami Hurricanes linebacker Adarius Hayes was among those injured on Saturday in a car crash that killed two children and left several others hospitalized in Largo. According to the Largo Police Department, 10-year-old Jabari Elijah Solomon and 4-year-old Charlie Herbert Solomon Riveria were killed when a Dodge Durango collided with a Kia Soul turning left at an intersection at 1:45 p.m. Saturday. Police have not identified the drivers but said several people, who have not been identified by law enforcement, have been hospitalized with “serious injuries.” An investigation is ongoing. UM declined to comment on the nature or severity of Hayes’ injuries. Local reporter Andy Slater said Hayes is hospitalized and alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
