State College, PA – In a heartfelt and inspirational move, Penn State Nittany Lions rising star running back Nick Singleton has announced a $7.5 million personal investment to convert his childhood home into a state-of-the-art shelter for homeless and at-risk youths.
The new facility, called “Nick’s House of Hope,” will offer food, shelter, mental health services, and education support to young people facing housing insecurity across Pennsylvania. Singleton, 21, said the idea was born from his own upbringing and a desire to give back to the community that shaped him.
“This isn’t about charity,” Singleton said during a press conference Thursday. “It’s about responsibility. I was given a platform, and I want to use it to lift people up. Every young person deserves a safe place to sleep and a chance to succeed.”
The announcement comes as Singleton’s NFL draft stock continues to rise following another dominant season with the Nittany Lions. Despite growing fame and interest from endorsement deals, Singleton chose to dedicate a major portion of his recent earnings to this personal project.
Penn State head coach James Franklin praised the move, calling Singleton “not just a great football player, but a great human being.”
Local leaders say “Nick’s House of Hope” is expected to open its doors by Fall 2025 and will initially house up to 40 residents.
Fans, teammates, and alumni have flooded social media with praise, hailing Singleton as a role model for athletes everywhere. In a time where money often headlines sports news, Singleton’s bold act of compassion is a powerful reminder that impact can be measured beyond touchdowns.
