Meanwhile, Arsenal looks to be planning a surprise late move for a La Liga attacker this month.
According to Football Insider, Arsenal are pondering a deal for Getafe striker Borja Mayoral.
So far this season, the 26-year-old has scored an astounding 14 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions while also contributing one assist.
Mayoral joined Getafe from fellow Spanish club Real Madrid in the summer of 2022, having previously played for AS Roma, Levante, and Wolfsburg.
The attacker has 29 goals in 78 games for Getafe, and Arteta reportedly wants to sign him this month.
Arsenal apparently had a bid for the Spaniard rejected last summer, instead they bought Kai Havertz from Chelsea.
It is also said that Arsenal expressed interest in the player last summer and are now reconsidering a move because Mayoral’s current contract includes a release clause.
Despite scoring an outstanding 16 goals in 31 games for Spain under-21 level, Mayoral has never been capped by his country at the senior level.
