Before making a mark with the Atlanta Falcons, running back Bijan Robinson had a major decision to make during his recruitment — one that nearly led him to Ohio State instead of Texas.
Bijan Robinson, now a dynamic player for the Atlanta Falcons, enjoyed a successful three-year run at the University of Texas from 2020 to 2022. However, his journey could have taken him to Ohio State instead.
In an appearance on the podcast “The Edge with Micah Parsons,” Robinson revealed that he was “silently committed” to Ohio State for a week before he had a change of heart. Robinson had considered joining the Buckeyes’ offense alongside stars like C.J. Stroud and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, and even informed Ohio State’s coaches of his decision. However, after some reflection and prayer, Robinson felt that Texas was where he was meant to be.
Although Ohio State’s facilities and appeal were enticing, Robinson ultimately chose Texas. His decision paid off as he went on to earn multiple honors, including being named a unanimous All-American in 2022. After being drafted by the Falcons in 2023, Robinson made an immediate impact, setting franchise records and earning a Pro Bowl alternate spot.
Looking back, Robinson feels Texas was the right choice, and his successful career trajectory affirms that decision.
