Nebraska lands recruiting win that could finally break a quiet streak.
Despite seemingly being rolling right along when it comes to recruiting, there is one area where the Nebraska football team has struggled a bit. However, those struggles might be about to end as the Huskers just got very good news for one of their top tight end targets in Lincoln Watkins.
NU has been working hard on Watkins for quite a while now and have especially been working to get him to take an official visit to Lincoln. While the Port Huron Northern (Port Huron, MI) has liked what he’s heard from the Cornhuskers coaches, the school has been going toe-to-toe with some of the best teams in the country
That could be a big boon for the Huskers, especially as he might want to stick around closer to his high school home. However, they will need to fight off the Sunshine State school, which has seen a bit of a resurgence under a coach who was once considered a dead man walking.
The 3-star prospect accoridng to On3’s Industry Rankings and the 10th best prospect in the state of Michigan in the 2026 class has decided he will take in Florida on June 6-June 8 and then will visit Nebraska a few weeks later, on June 20 to June 22.Lincoln Watkins trimmed his list to two and Nebraska made the cut
Things changed a bit on Thursday morning as the Nebraska football team became one of just two teams left standing. Watkins announced he’d shifted his visitation schedule around and is only considering the Cornhuskers and the Florida Gators for his services at this point. It stands to reason that should he truly wait that long to pull the trigger, the Nebraska football team would be in good shape. With several other visits set for June, the month could be a big one for head coach Matt Rhule and his staff.
