Baylor University’s iconic quarterback, Robert Griffin III, has been officially named to the 2026 College Football Hall of Fame ballot, as announced by the National Football Foundation (NFF). Griffin, affectionately known as “RGIII,” stands among 79 players and nine coaches from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) under consideration for this prestigious honor .
🏆 A Historic Collegiate Career
Griffin’s tenure at Baylor was nothing short of legendary. In 2011, he became the first Baylor player to win the Heisman Trophy, solidifying his place in college football history. That same year, he earned consensus First Team All-American honors and secured both the Davey O’Brien and Manning Awards. Griffin also led the nation in points responsible per game, averaging 22.15, and was named the Associated Press Player of the Year .
🎓 From Texas High School Star to National Icon
Before his collegiate success, Griffin showcased his talents at Copperas Cove High School in Texas. There, he led the Bulldogs to consecutive 4A Division I state championship games in 2006 and 2007. Over those two seasons, he amassed 3,357 passing yards with 41 touchdowns and added 2,161 rushing yards with 32 touchdowns .
