“Battle for the Best: Jared Curtis Names His Top Six Schools”

Top QB Prospect Jared Curtis Narrows Down College Choices to Top Six Schools

Jared Curtis, widely regarded as the nation’s premier quarterback prospect in the class of 2026, has taken a major step in his recruiting journey. The five-star quarterback, previously committed to the University of Georgia, recently announced his top six schools: Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, Oregon, and South Carolina. This announcement, shared via On3’s Hayes Fawcett, has heightened the anticipation surrounding his eventual college decision.

While these six programs are not definitively the final contenders, it appears unlikely that any new schools will break into the group at this stage. Curtis is expected to take both unofficial and official visits in the coming months, which could solidify his choice by mid-2025.

Curtis’ Background and Impact

Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, Curtis led his Nashville Christian team to a state championship last season. He posted stellar numbers, completing 70% of his passes for 2,830 yards, with 40 touchdowns against only three interceptions. Demonstrating his dual-threat capabilities, Curtis also rushed for 637 yards and 18 touchdowns, averaging an impressive 7.2 yards per carry. His outstanding performance earned him the title of “Mr. Football” in Tennessee and the 2024 Gatorade Player of the Year award for the state.

Curtis was previously committed to Georgia but decommitted, citing a desire to explore his options and take more visits. Reflecting on his continued interest in Georgia, he stated during a visit for their game against Tennessee, “I’d say I’m still interested in Georgia as long as they are interested in me.”

The Contenders: Evaluating His Top Six

Alabama

The Crimson Tide boasts a strong quarterback pipeline. They recently signed Keelon Russell, the No. 2 quarterback in the 2025 class, and are looking for him to compete for the starting role soon. With Austin Mack, a four-star recruit from the 2023 cycle, also in their quarterback room, Alabama’s depth and development make them a strong contender.

Georgia

Despite losing Curtis’ initial commitment, Georgia remains a significant player. The Bulldogs have been proactive, with offensive coordinator Mike Bobo visiting Curtis recently to watch the Orange Bowl together. Georgia’s quarterback depth includes four-star Ryan Montgomery from the 2025 class and Ryan Puglisi from 2024, both of whom are poised to shape the future of the program.

Ohio State

Ohio State continues to be a powerhouse for quarterback development. They recently secured Tavien St. Clair, the No. 3 overall prospect in the 2025 class, along with Julian Sayin, a former five-star recruit from 2024. These additions highlight the Buckeyes’ ability to attract top-tier talent, making them an appealing choice for Curtis.

Auburn

Auburn’s recent quarterback acquisitions include Deuce Knight, a near five-star recruit ranked as the No. 5 quarterback in the 2025 class, and Jackson Arnold, a transfer from Oklahoma. Arnold, a former five-star recruit, provides experience and leadership in the quarterback room, while Knight represents the program’s future.

Oregon

The Ducks have built an impressive quarterback depth chart, headlined by Dante Moore, a top-five prospect who transferred in 2023. While Oregon’s 2025 quarterback signees have seen some turnover, they retain promising talent like Akili Smith Jr. and Austin Novosad, providing Curtis with a competitive yet promising environment.

South Carolina

Among Curtis’ top six, South Carolina is the most quarterback-needy. The Gamecocks have not signed a top-10 quarterback prospect out of high school since 2020. However, they recently added Air Noland, a former Ohio State signee, through the transfer portal. With limited depth and a clear path to early playing time, South Carolina could be an attractive option for Curtis.

The Road Ahead

As Curtis weighs his options, his decision will undoubtedly reshape the recruiting landscape for the class of 2026. While Alabama, Georgia, and Ohio State have been consistent contenders throughout his recruitment, Auburn, Oregon, and South Carolina offer intriguing opportunities.

Curtis’ final choice will hinge on his upcoming visits and the relationships he continues to build with coaching staffs. With his talent and track record, any program fortunate enough to secure his commitment will gain a game-changing asset for years to come.
