Back from Injury: Andrew Carr’s Return Sparks Hope for Kentucky’s Battle Against Tennessee

Andrew Carr Set to Play Against Tennessee in Key SEC Matchup

Kentucky forward Andrew Carr will be available to play in the highly anticipated matchup against Tennessee on Tuesday night, as confirmed in the SEC game day availability report. Carr, who was listed as questionable on Monday’s injury report due to a back injury, had missed Kentucky’s recent loss at Vanderbilt but has since been cleared to return to action.

The 6-foot-10 senior transfer from Wake Forest has been a pivotal part of Kentucky’s lineup this season, averaging 10.9 points per game on an efficient 54% shooting from the field, though his three-point shooting stands at a modest 28%. Carr has also contributed significantly in other areas, grabbing 5.7 rebounds and dishing out 2.3 assists per game. He has started in 18 of Kentucky’s games this season and will be a critical presence on the court as the Wildcats face off against Tennessee.

Carr’s availability comes as a major boost for Kentucky, especially with other injury concerns looming. The Wildcats will also be without their starting point guard, Lamont Butler, for the Tuesday night rivalry game. Butler, a San Diego State transfer, has been one of Kentucky’s key contributors, averaging 13.2 points and 4.8 assists per game in 26.7 minutes.

His absence will leave a noticeable void, particularly considering that Kentucky’s other point guard, Kerr Kriisa, has been sidelined since early December with his own injury.

Tennessee enters the game as 9.5-point favorites according to FanDuel Sportsbook, with the over/under set at 148.5 points. KenPom’s projections give the Vols a 77-68 victory.

Both teams are coming off disappointing losses and will be hungry for a win. Tennessee is looking to rebound from a tough defeat at No. 1 Auburn on Saturday, while Kentucky has dropped two consecutive games, first at home to Alabama and then on the road at Vanderbilt.

The highly anticipated game between Tennessee and Kentucky is set to tip off at 7 p.m. ET at Thompson-Boling Arena at Food City Center in Knoxville. Fans can catch the action live on ESPN, with Karl Ravech, Jimmy Dykes, and Molly McGrath on the broadcast team.

With key players like Carr returning to the lineup, the outcome of this game could have significant implications for both teams as they continue to navigate the competitive SEC schedule.
