Why is Kevin Young putting together the best nonconference schedule in BYU basketball history?
A couple of games into BYU’s Big 12 basketball slate last January, first-year head coach Kevin Young and his staff realized what they had feared would happen when they inherited their nonconference schedule was actually happening. The 2024-25 Cougars were simply not ready for the physicality and athleticism they were facing in early conference games against Arizona State, Houston, Texas Tech and TCU. They went 1-3 in those games, defeating only ASU, at home. “Last year’s (nonconference schedule) was fine, but you can only get so much out of some of those games,” Young told the Deseret News…
Now is the time: Heat should sell the farm for Kevin Durant if the latest rumors are true
The Miami Heat should be all-in on acquiring Kevin Durant after the Suns just lowered their asking price (subscription required). A clear need for a go-to scorer developed after Jimmy Butler’s departure, but acquiring a star won’t be easy. Miami traded their 2027 first-rounder to get Terry Rozier and is not flush with young talent. Other teams will outbid them for Giannis, but the Heat have pulled off improbable moves before. It is why the latest KD rumors open the door. The Suns paid a gigantic price to get Durant and are not recouping that value. The 36-year-old is…
The Miami Heat may not be able to realistically enter the Giannis Antetokounmpo sweepstakes (if he ends up hitting the trade market), but the overwhelming expectation is that they’re going to explore a blockbuster move for Kevin Durant. However, one of Miami’s bitter rivals could end up completely spoiling their offseason plans. According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, not only was there mutual interest between KD and the New York Knicks ahead of this past year’s NBA Trade Deadline, but the Heat’s rival went all the way to make an official offer for the superstar wing. Even though the Phoenix…
Proposed trade for the Miami Heat would be a massive gamble. Over the past couple of days, the bulk of the trade rumors surrounding the Miami Heat involve Kevin Durant. Reports have been circulating that the 15-time All-Star is on the Miami Heat’s radar; it’s just a matter of the Heat being able to allocate enough trade capital to make it work and whether it would be worth essentially going all in for a brief championship window with Durant. However, a proposed trade exists that, if successful, would give Miami a significantly larger championship window. There is a lot to…
We live in a world of absolutes. Sports, in particular, don’t allow for much gray area in this realm. Your team is either the very best or an abomination unto whomever or whatever entity you pray to. A season is either a success or a failure. Middle-of-the-road? Save that conversation for something more level-headed. May I suggest politics? For this particular thought exercise, I want you to envision the 2025 Ole Miss baseball team. As of this writing – just days removed from a gut-wrenching, season-ending defeat in their own regional at the hands of massive underdog Murray State…
