Other Jamal Murray made a name for himself in basketball with a sick jumper, but he woke up on the morning of Game 6 in the Western Conference Semis literally sick. He was reportedly a game-time decision, but the team medical staff pumped him full of fluids, and he gave it a go. Not unlike Michael Jordan’s famous flu game in the 1997 Finals, Murray once again made a name for himself by being sick. The Blue Arrow scored 11 of his 25 points in the first quarter, putting to rest any thought that he was going to let a little virus get the best of him. He played a team-high 42 minutes, scored 25 points, and had a plus-28 in the plus-minus category, also a game-high. The only indication Murray was sick was that he was sick of losing. He and the Nuggets pulled away in the 4th quarter to secure the pivotal Game 6 win, 119-107, to stave off elimination. When asked if he thought there was a chance he might not play when he woke up sick this morning, Murray said emphatically, “Absolutely not.” Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had an MVP-like 32 points on an efficient 13-18 from the field, but his role players did not step up like Denver’s...
