Bo Jackson Crowned Greatest College Football Player of All Time in Historic Fan and Expert Vote

In a resounding celebration of gridiron greatness, Auburn legend Bo Jackson has officially been voted the greatest college football player of all time, surpassing some of the sport’s most iconic names, including Florida’s Tim Tebow, Georgia’s Herschel Walker, Oklahoma State’s Barry Sanders, and Texas’ Earl Campbell.

The decision came following a comprehensive poll involving fans, analysts, and former players, many of whom pointed to Jackson’s unmatched blend of speed, power, and athleticism as what set him apart from the rest. A two-sport marvel and a cultural icon, Jackson’s time at Auburn from 1982–1985 was nothing short of legendary. He rushed for 4,303 yards and 43 touchdowns, won the Heisman Trophy in 1985, and left a mark on college football that still resonates nearly four decades later.

Known for his unforgettable runs, fierce competitiveness, and effortless dominance, Bo Jackson embodied the phrase “once in a generation.” While Tebow brought passion and leadership, Walker was a workhorse, Sanders had video-game numbers, and Campbell was a bulldozer—Jackson was all of the above and more.

Fans across the nation—and especially those on The Plains—are celebrating the recognition of a player who redefined athletic excellence. ESPN and other sports media have also weighed in, many calling the decision long overdue.

In a sport built on legends, Bo Jackson now stands alone at the top. His crowning as the greatest college football player of all time isn’t just a win for Auburn—it’s a tribute to one of the most transcendent athletes to ever step on a footbal
