Arsenal Super star: Issues Arsenal contract update following starring performance in Liverpool’s triumph.

Ex-Chelsea midfielder will see his current contract at the Emirates Stadium end in the summer.

Jorginho is yet to hold talks with Arsenal over a new contract and insists his focus is on firing the Gunners to the Premier League title.

The 32-year-old midfielder is into the final five months of his current deal at the Emirates Stadium, although Arsenal do have the option to extend it by a further year.

Jorginho, who joined from Chelsea last January for around £12million, has been in and out of the team under Mikel Arteta but he shone in Sunday’s 3-1 win over Liverpool as Arsenal moved to within two points of the leaders.

Asked after the game for the latest on his contract situation, Jorginho said: “I am trying to enjoy the moment, to be honest. We haven’t spoken about it (my contract) and I just want to win games with Arsenal.”

Jorginho has enjoyed a glittering playing career, winning the Champions League with Chelsea and helping Italy to win Euro 2020.

But he says he is desperate to add the Premier League to his trophy collection and believes Arsenal have the maturity to handle the heat of the title race after coming so close last season.

“It would mean a lot [to win the Premier League],” said Jorginho. “That one is missing to tick [off].

“We need to enjoy the moment and push really hard every single game. At the end, we will see. We have to do a lot and we have to push a lot. We are on the right path.

“I mean, we believe we can play against any team. We can beat any team, that’s the reality.

“But then to win the League, you can’t lose points against the other teams. So I think we need this maturity to try and not lose those points in other games.
