Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal injury concerns have been allayed following a rocky start to the 2023/24 season. Jurrien Timber, a summer recruit, suffered a catastrophic knee injury on his Premier League debut, while Thomas Partey, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus, and Gabriel Martinelli are also suffering with fitness difficulties.
With no big injuries to the Gunners in the previous few games, the squad members in the treatment room appear to be reducing. Arteta was also allowed to welcome back an important tandem for the trip to Liverpool, since there were no glaring worries following the 1-1 draw at Anfied.
However, the Arsenal boss is aware that he will have to play West Ham without Kai Havertz, who received his fifth yellow card of the season in the match against Liverpool. Jorginho
Jorginho was not included to the matchday squad as Arsenal defeated Brighton to climb to the top of the Premier League standings. The Italian midfielder was ruled out owing to a foot ailment, but he appears set to make a comeback this weekend.
When questioned about his injury after the win over Brighton, the Italian midfielder told football.london: “Getting better, getting better.” Jorginho was back on the bench for the game against Liverpool, proving that theory right.
Mohamed Elneny
Mohamed Elneny, an Arsenal midfielder, returned from injury in the Champions League against PSV but was forced off owing to a suspected hamstring injury. Fortunately, the Egyptian international seems to be returning shortly, with the 2018 African Cup of Nations on the horizon. The Egypt international was included to the matchday squad for the match against Liverpool at Anfield.

Arteta recently given an update on the 30-year-old’s recovery process, but it is unclear if he will be ready to play Liverpool in the FA Cup third-round in early 2024. Partey is expected to return for Arsenal’s FA Cup match against Liverpool before flying to AFCON.

Tomiyasu sustained a calf injury in the second half of Arsenal’s game against Wolves and will be out till the new year. Arsenal is hoping Tomiyasu will be available for the FA Cup match against Liverpool before flying to the Asia Cup with Japan.

Jurrien Timber
Timber, who joined Arsenal from Ajax in the summer, sustained a horrific injury on the first weekend of the Premier League season. The 22-year-old defender fell down holding his right knee at the end of Arsenal’s first-half match against Nottingham Forest.
Timber’s ACL damage was not as severe as initially thought, and he is expected to return between March and May of next year. Following his appearance on Arsenal’s club trip to Rwanda, there is mounting speculation that supporters will see the former Ajax man in action before the conclusion of the current season.
