Arizona Cardinals Bring in Ohio State’s Justin Frye as New Offensive Line Coach

The Arizona Cardinals have made a significant addition to their coaching staff, hiring Justin Frye, formerly of Ohio State, as their new offensive line coach. ESPN’s Pete Thamel broke the news, which comes just a day after the Cardinals’ previous offensive line coach, Klayton Adams, left to join the Dallas Cowboys as their offensive coordinator.

Frye’s arrival in Arizona marks a reunion with Cardinals offensive tackle Paris Johnson Jr., who played under Frye during the 2022 season at Ohio State before being drafted in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft. Additionally, offensive guard Jon Gaines II spent four years working with Frye during his tenure as offensive line coach and offensive coordinator at UCLA.

Johnson didn’t hide his excitement about the hire, taking to social media platform X to share his enthusiasm.

Frye, who joined Ohio State in January 2022, brings a wealth of experience from previous coaching stints at Boston College, Temple, Florida, and Indiana. This will be his first foray into the NFL, adding a fresh perspective to the Cardinals’ coaching staff.

Cardinals’ Coaching Staff Shake-Up Continues
The hiring of Frye is just one of several moves involving the Cardinals’ coaching staff this offseason. Alongside Adams’ departure to Dallas, inside linebackers coach Sam Siefkes has taken on the role of defensive coordinator at Virginia Tech. Additionally, the team reportedly parted ways with defensive line coach Derrick LeBlanc after two seasons.

On the offensive side, coordinator Drew Petzing interviewed for the Chicago Bears’ head coaching vacancy before the job ultimately went to Ben Johnson. Quarterbacks coach Israel Woolfork also drew interest from the Bears, who reportedly sought to interview him for their offensive coordinator position before hiring Declan Doyle.
