Angel Reese makes request ahead of brother’s Sweet 16 game vs. Florida

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese is rallying support for her brother, Julian Reese, as he and the Maryland Terrapins advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Following Maryland’s narrow 72-71 victory over the Colorado State Rams, Angel took to social media to request assistance in creating a custom Sweet 16 shirt to wear during the game against the Florida Gators on Thursday. She posted, “I need somebody make me a Sweet 16 shirt to wear for my brother game thursday! Thank yaaa”

Angel’s plea underscores the close-knit relationship between the siblings and her eagerness to support Julian’s collegiate journey. Earlier in the tournament, Julian achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 1,000 career rebounds, joining an exclusive group of Terrapins players. In response, Angel shared a graphic highlighting his achievement, accompanied by the simple yet heartfelt message, “Duhhhhh.”

The Reese family’s basketball legacy is rich, with both Angel and Julian excelling on the court. Their mother, Angel Webb Reese, was a standout player at UMBC, averaging 13.2 rebounds per game during her senior year. She raised Angel and Julian as a single mother, instilling in them a strong work ethic and passion for the game.

As Maryland prepares for their Sweet 16 matchup against Florida, the Reese family’s support and encouragement continue to be a driving force in Julian’s basketball journey. Angel’s public show of support not only highlights their familial bond but also brings attention to the achievements of student-athletes, especially as March Madness captivates fans nationwide.
