The Chicago Sky paid a visit to the Pete Maravich Assembly Center in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Friday to start their 2025 WNBA Preseason tour against the Brazilian National Team.Brazil will also face Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever this weekend. With the game being held in her old college stomping grounds, Sky star Angel Reese was asked about her old coach Kim Mulkey ahead of the contest. “Kim Mulkey prepared me for the [WNBA],” an effusive Reese admitted. “I’ll be honest, she kept it real, and I hated it at the time. I haven’t heard anything about my game that she didn’t tell me.”Mulkey was in attendance to greet both Reese and Hailey Van Lith, Chicago’s 2025 first-round draft pick, who spent one season in college at LSU.Reese started the game strong, scoring 10 points and grabbing six rebounds as the Sky raced to a big lead over their international opponents. Chicago went on to win 89-62.
Van Lith wasn’t the only Chicago player to make her debut with the team, as veteran free agent signing Courtney Vandersloot and Kia Nurse also featured for the Sky.
This season is primed to be the year Reese transitions from an All-Star, like she was a season ago, to an MVP candidate. Her transition to the league was smooth a season ago, as he finished second in the league’s Rookie of the Year vote.
