The Alabama Crimson Tide softball team is gearing up for their 2025 season opener at the Candrea Classic in Tucson, Arizona. They are set to face the Washington Huskies on February 7, along with matchups against Michigan State Spartans, Western Michigan Broncos, and host Arizona Wildcats.
As the season approaches, ESPN and USA Softball have released their preseason Top 25 rankings. The Crimson Tide, led by head coach Patrick Murphy, are ranked No. 11, just behind Texas Tech (No. 10) and ahead of Florida State (No. 12). Softball America also placed Alabama at No. 11 in their preseason poll.
In ESPN’s rankings, the Texas Longhorns claimed the top spot, followed by the Florida Gators at No. 2. The four-time defending champions, Oklahoma Sooners, are ranked No. 3, with Oklahoma State and Tennessee rounding out the top five.
A notable 11 SEC teams are featured in ESPN’s poll, including six in the top 10. Texas A&M is ranked No. 7, LSU at No. 9, and Alabama at No. 11, followed by Arkansas (No. 13), Georgia (No. 14), Missouri (No. 15), and Mississippi State (No. 25).
In 2024, Alabama finished with a 39-20 record, including their 15th appearance in the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City. They swept their on-site regional at Rhoads Stadium and advanced past No. 3 Tennessee in the Knoxville Super Regional before being eliminated by Florida in the WCWS.
The upcoming season holds great promise, and fans are eager to see how the Crimson Tide will perform against top competition.
