Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer traveled from Tuscaloosa to Mobile on Tuesday morning to observe the Reese’s Senior Bowl practice. While there, he spoke with the media, addressing various topics, including the recent hiring of assistant defensive backs coach Jason Jones.
DeBoer highlighted Jones’ experience and what he will contribute to the Crimson Tide’s coaching staff. He also discussed how Jones will collaborate with defensive backs coach Maurice Linguist to strengthen Alabama’s secondary.
Jones, a former Alabama player from 1996 to 2000, transitioned into coaching after his playing career ended. Over the years, he has built an extensive résumé, holding coaching positions at numerous programs, including Alabama, Indiana, Florida Atlantic, Rice, Oklahoma State, and most recently, serving as the cornerbacks coach at North Carolina.
Jones’ addition to the staff is expected to have a significant impact, particularly in recruiting within the state of Alabama. His experience and familiarity with the program will be valuable as he helps develop the Crimson Tide’s defensive backs heading into the 2025 season.
