A preseason game-by-game prediction for BYU football’s 2025 season, analyzing each matchup ahead of fall camp preparations.

Game-by-Game Prediction for BYU Football’s 2025 Season Before Fall Camp

With the 2025 college football season just a few months away, BYU fans are already looking forward to what could be an intriguing year for the Cougars. Now in their third season as members of the Big 12 Conference, BYU will look to build on their growing experience and improve on last year’s performance. Although rosters and depth charts will solidify during fall camp, we can still make some early predictions for each game based on returning talent, coaching stability, and opponent strength.

Week 1: vs. Southern Utah
BYU opens the season at home against FCS opponent Southern Utah. This should be a tune-up game and an easy win to get things rolling.
Prediction: Win (1–0)

Week 2: at Arkansas
Facing Arkansas on the road will be a true test. The Razorbacks are physical and well-coached, and they beat BYU convincingly two seasons ago in Provo. While BYU could be more competitive this time, winning in SEC country is a tall order.
Prediction: Loss (1–1)

Week 3: vs. Utah State
A renewed in-state rivalry returns as BYU hosts Utah State. The Aggies are rebuilding and unlikely to match BYU’s talent level.
Prediction: Win (2–1)

Week 4: at Baylor
This Big 12 matchup will be tough. Baylor plays a physical brand of football, and road conference games are rarely easy.
Prediction: Loss (2–2)

Week 5: vs. Kansas
Kansas has turned a corner in recent seasons and brings back experience on both sides of the ball. However, a home-field advantage might give BYU the edge in a close one.
Prediction: Win (3–2)

Week 6: at Oklahoma State
Still one of the conference’s top teams, Oklahoma State will be a major challenge on the road. BYU will compete but fall short.
Prediction: Loss (3–3)

Week 7: Bye Week
A much-needed rest comes at the midpoint of the season, allowing BYU to regroup for a challenging second half.

Week 8: vs. Arizona
Arizona is on the rise, but BYU gets them at home and off a bye. This is a winnable game if the defense holds up.
Prediction: Win (4–3)

Week 9: at UCF
A tough road trip to Orlando pits BYU against a speedy UCF squad. Travel and humidity may play a role.
Prediction: Loss (4–4)

Week 10: vs. Texas Tech
The Red Raiders can score in bunches, but BYU’s defense should be more experienced by this point. Home-field edge again proves key.
Prediction: Win (5–4)

Week 11: at West Virginia
Morgantown is a tough place to play in November. West Virginia’s physicality might wear down BYU late.
Prediction: Loss (5–5)

Week 12: vs. Cincinnati
Back home for senior night, BYU ends the regular season strong against a rebuilding Cincinnati team.
Prediction: Win (6–5)

Week 13: at Utah
The regular season ends with a massive rivalry game in Salt Lake City. Utah remains a top-tier team and has dominated recent matchups.
Prediction: Loss (6–6)

Final Outlook:
A 6–6 record is a reasonable early prediction. Bowl eligibility would be a solid outcome in another rugged Big 12 schedule, and with continued growth, BYU could exceed expectations. Fall camp will be crucial for determining whether the Cougars can break through to a higher tier in 2025.
