Braeden Davis, a standout wrestler for Penn State, is facing several legal charges following an incident at the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity house in State College, Pennsylvania, on March 29, 2025.
According to police reports, Davis and a friend were asked multiple times by private security to leave the fraternity premises. When police arrived, Davis allegedly attempted to flee the scene. He was caught after a brief chase and reportedly resisted arrest. During the incident, he damaged a police officer’s wristwatch, radio earpiece, and body camera.
Davis, 20, has been charged with:
Resisting arrest (second-degree misdemeanor)
Evading arrest on foot (second-degree misdemeanor)
Criminal trespass (third-degree misdemeanor)
Underage consumption of alcohol (summary offense)
Public drunkenness (summary offense)
At the time of arrest, Davis’s blood alcohol content was measured at 0.225%, nearly three times the legal limit. He was taken to Mount Nittany Medical Center for treatment of alcohol overdose.
Penn State Athletics released a statement acknowledging the incident:
“We are aware of the charges against Braeden Davis. These alleged actions do not reflect the values and standards of our program and will be addressed. We will not comment any further as this is an ongoing legal matter.”
Davis recently earned All-American honors by finishing fifth in the 133-pound weight class at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships. He also won a Big Ten title at 125 pounds during his freshman year.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 21, 2025, in Centre County Court. His future with the wrestling program is currently uncertain.
