BREAKING: Anthony Davis Launches Mentorship & Leadership Program for Kentucky Wildcats—“I Want to See the Younger Generation Win”
Lexington, KY — July 10, 2025
In a move hailed as both visionary and deeply personal, NBA superstar and former Kentucky Wildcat Anthony Davis has officially launched a mentorship and leadership development program at the University of Kentucky. The initiative, titled “Unibrow U: Lead the Legacy,” is aimed at equipping current Kentucky men’s basketball players with elite-level resources, mentorship, and life-skills training both on and off the court.
Davis, who led Kentucky to a 2012 NCAA National Championship before becoming the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, returned to Lexington this week to unveil the program during a powerful press conference inside Rupp Arena.
> “This isn’t about basketball alone,” Davis said, standing at center court. “It’s about life. I want to see the younger generation win—not just in March Madness or in the league, but in their communities, their families, and their futures.”
The program, funded in part by a $6 million personal donation from Davis, includes a year-round schedule of workshops, mental wellness sessions, financial literacy training, and one-on-one mentorship with former Kentucky players, NBA veterans, and trusted life coaches. Players will also have access to Davis’s own network of trainers, nutritionists, and business mentors.
Coach John Calipari, who coached Davis during Kentucky’s legendary 38-2 season in 2011–12, praised the initiative as “the gold standard” for alumni impact.
> “Anthony has always been a leader by example. Now, he’s taking that leadership to a new level. Our players won’t just learn how to win games—they’ll learn how to lead lives of meaning and excellence.”
Davis’s passion for mentorship stems from his own journey—from a quiet, overlooked high schooler in Chicago to national college champion, Olympic gold medalist, and NBA superstar. He credits Kentucky as the place that transformed his path.
> “Kentucky changed my life,” Davis said. “It gave me confidence, discipline, and a stage. Now it’s time to give that back—tenfold.”
Unibrow U: Lead the Legacy will also partner with local Lexington schools and youth programs, offering community clinics and summer camps run by Wildcats players and alumni. The goal is to create a pipeline of support from middle school through college and beyond, emphasizing education, resilience, and character.
Fan reaction has been overwhelmingly positive. Social media lit up with praise as hashtags like #LeadTheLegacy and #ADGivesBack trended within hours. Alumni and NBA peers, including DeMarcus Cousins, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Devin Booker, have already voiced interest in joining the mentorship roster.
As Davis concluded the announcement, he looked directly at the current roster seated in the front row.
> “I see future champions, CEOs, and leaders in this room,” he said. “I’m just here to help you realize it.”
With one powerful gesture, Anthony Davis has done more than return to his roots—he’s planted the seeds for a legacy that could shape generations of Wildcats to come.
