Nittany Lions Land Rising Star: Three-Star Offensive Lineman Jack Fuchs Commits to Penn State
Penn State just added another key piece to its future in the trenches.
On Friday, three-star offensive lineman Jack Fuchs officially announced his commitment to the Nittany Lions, giving head coach James Franklin and offensive line coach Phil Trautwein yet another promising prospect for the 2025 recruiting class. The 6-foot-5, 280-pound lineman from New Jersey chose Penn State over notable offers from Michigan State, Duke, West Virginia, and Boston College.
Fuchs, who plays for the Hun School in Princeton—a powerhouse prep program—has steadily risen on recruiting boards thanks to his size, footwork, and football IQ. Though not yet a household name, his tape showcases the type of high-upside player Penn State has been known to develop into an elite Big Ten contributor.
“I felt like Penn State was home,” Fuchs said during his announcement. “From the facilities to the coaching staff to the way they develop linemen—everything just felt right. I’m ready to be part of something special.”
The commitment comes at a crucial time as Penn State continues to build momentum on the recruiting trail following a string of successful camps and visits. With Fuchs now in the fold, the Nittany Lions add both depth and versatility to their offensive line future. Coaches reportedly see him as a potential interior lineman, though his long frame could allow for development into a tackle role if needed.
Fuchs is ranked as the No. 18 overall prospect in New Jersey and a top-70 interior offensive lineman nationally, according to 247Sports. While he may not carry the five-star hype, his fundamentals and physical tools offer substantial upside. Analysts often point to his quick first step, powerful hands, and strong anchor against bull rushes as evidence he could contribute at the next level with the right coaching.
Penn State’s track record with offensive linemen also played a key role in Fuchs’ decision. In recent years, the Nittany Lions have sent multiple linemen to the NFL, and under Trautwein’s direction, the group has shown steady improvement in both run blocking and pass protection. For Fuchs, that development pipeline was impossible to ignore.
With his commitment, Penn State now holds a solid foundation along the offensive line for its 2025 class, which already includes several blue-chip skill position players. The staff has made a concerted effort to shore up the trenches as they aim to compete with powerhouses like Michigan and Ohio State in the ever-competitive Big Ten East.
Fuchs is expected to officially visit Happy Valley again later this summer and plans to enroll early in January 2025. For now, his focus is on finishing his high school career strong and preparing to contribute to a Nittany Lions program that he believes is on the verge of something big.
“I want to win championships,” Fuchs said. “And I believe Penn State is the place where that can happen.”
With another key commitment locked in, James Franklin and company continue to build a class that could shape the next era of Penn State football.
