Looks like Coach Tom Izzo is living large off the court — and possibly setting the stage for a well-earned retirement.
The legendary Michigan State basketball coach has reportedly purchased a jaw-dropping $39 million ranch in Georgia, complete with everything from a private lake and hunting grounds to a custom-built racetrack. That’s right — racetrack. When Izzo said he wanted to “unwind,” he meant it.
“I’ve spent my life in the gym. Now I want a place where my grandkids can fish, we can ride ATVs, and maybe even shoot a few hoops by the lake,” Izzo told close friends, according to sources.
While Izzo has not officially announced any retirement plans, this move definitely raises some eyebrows. At 69, he’s cemented himself as one of the most respected names in college basketball — with a national championship, 8 Final Four appearances, and over 680 career wins under his belt.
So, what does this mean for Spartan Nation?
For now, it looks like Izzo is just expanding his horizons — trading playbooks for pastures (at least on weekends). But fans can’t help but wonder: is this the beginning of the end of an era in East Lansing?
Either way, if you’re a Spartan fan, you’ve got to tip your hat. The man’s earned a slice of peace and paradise.
