Four Seniors Who Define BYU Spirit: Walker, Lund, Richey, and Larsen Celebrate Their Legacy
For four unforgettable years, the Brigham Young University cheer squad has been driven by a core group of senior leaders whose dedication, positivity, and unmatched energy have lifted not only spirits—but expectations. Jessica Walker, Sam Lund, Anna Richey, and Cameron Larsen are not just cheerleaders. They are ambassadors of Cougar pride, torchbearers of tradition, and role models for students, athletes, and fans alike.
As they prepare to graduate and pass the torch, their impact can be felt far beyond the sidelines.
Leading with Spirit and Substance
Each member of this quartet brought something unique to the team, creating a powerful chemistry that radiated throughout LaVell Edwards Stadium, the Marriott Center, and beyond.
Jessica Walker, known for her vibrant charisma and vocal leadership, became a beacon of confidence for new members. Whether she was rallying the squad during grueling rehearsals or encouraging fans during a close game, Jessica’s enthusiasm was infectious. Her leadership extended to academic settings as well, maintaining a strong GPA in exercise science while serving as a team liaison with athletic department officials.
Sam Lund, often described as the “heartbeat” of the squad, is a true technician. He brought strength, precision, and timing to stunts and pyramids, earning the respect of his peers for both his work ethic and humility. Off the field, Sam was involved in campus service initiatives and youth mentorship programs, embodying the BYU mission of “Enter to learn, go forth to serve.”
Anna Richey showcased an unmatched commitment to the artistry of cheerleading. A natural performer, she made every routine an experience for fans. Coaches and teammates often praised her for her attention to detail and her ability to lift morale in tough moments. A public relations major, Anna also managed the squad’s social media presence, helping grow the team’s following and connect with fans nationwide.
Cameron Larsen served as a quiet but steady leader, someone whose consistency and poise under pressure made him a foundational piece of the squad. A skilled base and choreographer, Cameron also mentored younger teammates, helping them transition into college athletics and balance academics and performance.
Representing BYU with Pride
Together, these four seniors have traveled across the country, representing BYU at bowl games, NCAA tournaments, and national competitions. They’ve been there through the highs and lows of Cougar sports, always maintaining the energy that makes BYU game days so special.
More importantly, they have set the tone for what it means to be a student-athlete at BYU: excellence, service, discipline, and faith.
A Legacy That Will Endure
As they hang up their uniforms for the final time, Walker, Lund, Richey, and Larsen leave behind more than cheers and chants—they leave a lasting legacy of leadership, character, and Cougar spirit.
Their shoes may soon be filled, but their impact will continue to echo through the halls of BYU athletics for years to come.
In every lift, every shout, every halftime routine, these four seniors gave their all—and BYU is better because of it.
