Las Vegas’ top-ranked safety recruit, Matthew Mason, has committed to BYU, turning down offers from

UNLV, Boise State, San Diego State and Arizona State. Mason, a 6’3″ and 190-pound three-star prospect, praised BYU’s defensive coordinator Jay Hill, saying, “Coach Hill is a coach that I trust with everything. He believes in my ability and feels I can compete for a spot on the field right away.”

 

Mason’s decision to join BYU was solidified after an official visit, where he appreciated the team’s atmosphere and Hill’s guidance. “My official visit was amazing… All my questions were answered. It just felt really good to be there and be around the people at BYU,” Mason shared.

 

As a talented defensive playmaker, Mason boasts impressive stats, including ¹ ²:
