The Texas Tech softball team continues to bolster its 2026 roster through the transfer portal.
The Red Raiders received a commitment from two-way player Desirae Spearman on Wednesday via social media. Spearman spent her first two years at New Mexico State and has two years of eligibility remaining.A native of El Paso and graduate from Hanks High School, Spearman earned Conference USA freshman and player of the year in 2024 after hitting .365 with 18 home runs and 43 RBIs while compiling an 8-4 record with a 3.15 ERA.
Spearman followed that debut season with 20 home runs, 47 RBIs and a .430 batting average in 2025. She was also 11-8 with a 3.54 ERA, totaling 118 strikeouts in 114⅔ innings. She garnered first-team All-Conference USA honors as an outfielder.Spearman is the sixth transfer to commit to the Red Raiders this offseason, joining fellow two-way player Kaitlyn Terry of UCLA. Texas Tech has also added three National Fastpitch Coaches Association All-Americans in Mia Williams (Florida), Taylor Pannell (Tennessee) and Jasmyn Burns (Ohio State). Former Missouri Valley player of the year Jackie Lis (Southern Illinois) has also been brought on.
