BIG MOVE IN COLLEGE VOLLEYBALL: Sophee Peterson Breaks Down Her Commitment to Texas A&M
In a major recruiting win for Texas A&M volleyball, elite 2025 outside hitter Sophee Peterson has officially pledged her commitment to the Aggies. Known for her explosive athleticism, powerful swings, and tenacious court presence, Peterson is expected to make an immediate impact in College Station. The standout recruit took time to break down her decision and what drew her to the A&M program.
Peterson, a 6-foot-1 star from California’s volleyball hotbed, has been on the radar of Power Five programs for years. Her dynamic play for her club team and high school squad has garnered national attention. With a long list of scholarship offers from prestigious programs across the country, her final choice came down to culture, coaching, and fit.
“From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt like Texas A&M was home,” Peterson shared. “The coaching staff was incredibly welcoming, and they were really clear about their vision—not just for the team, but for me as a player and a person. That made a huge difference.”
Head coach Jamie Morrison, who took over the Aggie program in 2023, has quickly built a reputation for reinvigorating the team’s competitiveness. Peterson said Morrison’s commitment to player development, both on and off the court, played a major role in her decision.
“Coach Morrison brings so much energy and passion to the game,” she said. “He sees the bigger picture. He wants us to grow into strong women, not just athletes. That really resonated with me.”
Peterson also cited A&M’s growing volleyball culture and fan support as key factors. With the program on the rise and the SEC growing ever more competitive, she believes it’s the perfect time to jump in and help the team climb the national rankings.
“Everyone’s buying in. You can tell something special is happening at A&M right now,” she said. “I want to be part of building something great and competing for championships.”
The Aggies, who finished with a respectable campaign last season, are building a strong 2025 recruiting class around Peterson and a handful of other national-level prospects. Peterson brings a powerful all-around game—dominant at the net, consistent on serve receive, and fearless in clutch moments.
Recruiting analysts have called her “a program-changer,” and Aggie fans are already buzzing about her future.
While she’s excited about what lies ahead, Peterson says she’s staying focused on finishing strong in her senior season. “Right now, I just want to enjoy the moment and keep working,” she said. “There’s still so much I want to accomplish this year, and I’m going to give it everything I have.”
Her commitment is yet another sign that Texas A&M volleyball is on the rise. With Sophee Peterson in maroon and white, the Aggies are gaining not just an elite talent—but a determined leader ready to elevate the program to new heights.
