Michigan State has received a commitment from Middletown (Ohio) safety Jordan Vann following his weekend official with the Spartans.
The Spartans are also doing good work in Ohio, a state that has been a key recruiting ground for them throughout their history but certainly in the last 15-20 years.
Vann joins Lakewood St. Edward’s Brayden Thomas as safeties in this Spartan class. We see Thomas a roaming free safety where Vann is a more physical strong safety type who can play in the box.
He played all over the defense for Middletown and showed he could do multiple things from blitz and get sacks and also drop into a deep zone and make plays on the ball
Vann (6-1, 195 pounds) had been committed to the Cavaliers since February but Michigan State offered right at the end of that month and had been working on him ever since. Purdue also offered and got Vann up on an official recently but the Spartans were able to win the battle against both schools.
Vann is a three-star per 247Sports with an 86 rating. That makes him the No. 94 safety in the class and No. 44 rising senior in Ohio.
He is the 14th commitment in Michigan State’s class which now has some good momentum with ten commitments coming since the start of the month
We saw him in 7-on-7 this off-season and he also made a lot of players there and showed instincts, and the ability to be in the right spot at the right times.
He’s a good fit at Michigan State and this was a good recruiting job by the Spartan staff
