BREAKING: Jon Richt Appointed Head Coach at Prince Avenue Christian School
In a significant development in Georgia high school football, Jon Richt, son of former University of Georgia head coach Mark Richt, has been named the new head football coach at Prince Avenue Christian School in Bogart, Georgia. This appointment follows the resignation of longtime head coach Greg Vandagriff, who led the Wolverines to three state championships and an impressive 107-16 record over nine seasons.
Coaching Legacy and Background
Jon Richt is no stranger to the Prince Avenue community. A 2008 graduate of the school, he was part of the early teams that helped establish the football program. After his high school career, Richt attended Clemson University before transferring to Mars Hill College, where he set several school records as a quarterback during his senior year.
His coaching journey began in 2014 as a quality control assistant at the University of Georgia under his father. He then served as an offensive assistant with the Buffalo Bills in 2015 and as the quarterbacks coach at the University of Miami from 2016 to 2018. In 2021, Richt returned to Prince Avenue Christian as the offensive coordinator, a role in which he contributed to the team’s success, including two state championships.
Vision for the Future
Athletic Director Richard Ricketts expressed confidence in Richt’s ability to lead the program, stating, “We are confident Coach Richt’s extensive experience, passion for football, spiritual maturity, and deep-rooted connection to Prince will inspire our student-athletes to achieve new heights.”
Richt’s appointment marks a new chapter for Prince Avenue Christian School’s football program, as he takes the helm with a blend of experience, passion, and a deep connection to the school’s traditions.
