Former Boise State OL Ben Dooley Transfers to BYU, Bolstering Offensive Line Depth
BYU Football continues to strengthen its roster through the transfer portal, this time adding former Boise State offensive lineman Ben Dooley. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound lineman brings experience, toughness, and Big 12-ready size to a BYU offensive line that is undergoing significant retooling ahead of the 2025 season.
Dooley, who appeared in 20 games for the Broncos over the past three seasons, brings valuable experience and versatility. He has played both guard and tackle positions, giving BYU’s coaching staff flexibility in managing injuries and depth concerns. His transfer comes at a critical time, as the Cougars look to solidify protection for their quarterback and establish a more consistent ground game.
“I’m grateful for my time at Boise State, but I felt like BYU was the right place to take the next step,” Dooley said. “There’s a strong culture here, and I’m excited to compete and contribute right away.”
Offensive line coach Darrell Funk expressed enthusiasm for Dooley’s arrival: “Ben is a tough, intelligent lineman who knows what it takes to succeed at this level. He’ll bring maturity and depth to our unit, and we expect him to push for immediate playing time.”
With multiple starting jobs up for grabs on BYU’s offensive front, Dooley is poised to compete from day one. His experience in a high-tempo Mountain West offense aligns well with BYU’s system, and his physicality in the run game makes him a valuable asset as the Cougars try to improve their rushing attack.
As BYU continues its transition into the highly competitive Big 12 Conference, acquiring veteran linemen like Dooley is a key part of building the physicality and depth required to compete week in and week out.
