Edgerrin Cooper: From Texas A&M Standout to NFL Top 10 Linebacker
Former Texas A&M linebacker Edgerrin Cooper has swiftly made his mark in the NFL, earning a spot among Pro Football Focus’s (PFF) Top 10 Linebackers ahead of the 2025 season. Drafted 45th overall by the Green Bay Packers in 2024, Cooper’s rookie season showcased his versatility and impact on the field.
Despite a mid-season hamstring injury limiting his snaps, Cooper recorded 77 total tackles, 3.5 sacks, an interception, and a fumble recovery. His performance earned him sixth place in Defensive Rookie of the Year voting. Notably, from Week 15 onward, he achieved a 91.3 PFF overall grade, leading all NFL linebackers during that span.
Cooper’s ability to excel in run defense, coverage, and pass rush—earning 74.0-plus PFF grades in each category—highlights his all-around skill set. His rapid development and on-field intelligence have positioned him as a cornerstone of the Packers’ defense.
As Cooper enters his second NFL season, expectations are high for his continued growth and contribution to Green Bay’s defensive success
