The Alabama Crimson Tide are undergoing significant roster changes this offseason, notably with the departure of several quarterbacks. Jalen Milroe, who served as the starting quarterback for the past two seasons, declared for the 2025 NFL Draft earlier this year. He was subsequently selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the third round and signed a four-year, $6.26 million rookie contract .
In addition to Milroe’s departure, redshirt freshman Dylan Lonergan entered the transfer portal and has since committed to Boston College . These changes have opened up a competitive quarterback battle in Tuscaloosa. Veteran Ty Simpson, who entered spring practice as the favorite, continues to lead the competition. He is being challenged by Austin Mack, a transfer from Washington, and incoming freshman Keelon Russell .
The Crimson Tide’s quarterback situation remains fluid as the team prepares for the upcoming season. Head coach Kalen DeBoer faces the task of identifying a new leader under center to guide Alabama back to championship contention.
