Mississippi State Secures Promising 6-Foot-9 Forward for 2025-26 Basketball Season
Mississippi State has bolstered its 2025-26 men’s basketball roster with the addition of 6-foot-9 Slovenian forward Sergej Macura. The 21-year-old is set to enroll at Mississippi State later this summer, bringing international experience and versatility to the Bulldogs’ frontcourt.
Macura gained attention with his standout performance at the 2023 U19 World Cup, where he averaged 12.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game. He has also represented Slovenia’s national youth team in 18 games, averaging 9.6 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. His professional experience includes playing for Serbian club BC Mega, known for developing NBA talent.
Macura joins a Mississippi State recruiting class that includes guard King Grace, wing Cameren Paul, forward Jamarion Davis-Fleming, and center Tee Bartlett. With Macura’s commitment, the Bulldogs have one remaining scholarship spot, which they plan to fill with a transfer forward.
Head coach Chris Jans, entering his fourth season, continues to strengthen the team’s roster with a mix of international talent and domestic recruits. Macura’s addition is expected to provide depth and versatility to the frontcourt as the Bulldogs aim for another successful season in the SEC.
