BYU Women’s Basketball Shines in the Classroom with Four Named to Academic All-Big 12 Team
While BYU Women’s Basketball continues to grow on the court, the team is also proving its excellence in the classroom. Four Cougar players were honored with selection to the 2025 Winter Academic All-Big 12 Team, highlighting their commitment to both athletics and academics.
The Big 12 Conference recognized these student-athletes for maintaining a GPA of 3.0 or higher while actively competing during the winter sports season. This acknowledgment reflects not just individual discipline but also the culture fostered by BYU’s athletic and academic programs.
The honored athletes include returning starters and key contributors who balanced rigorous travel schedules, practices, and coursework. While their names have not all been publicly listed yet, head coach Lee Cummard expressed his pride in their efforts.
“Our program prioritizes excellence in every area,” Cummard said. “To see these women succeed in the classroom as much as they do on the court is incredibly rewarding. They represent BYU with integrity and focus.”
The recognition also strengthens BYU’s standing as a program that develops well-rounded student-athletes. As the Cougars continue to transition and compete in the Big 12, these academic accolades provide evidence that the team can meet the demands of a Power Five conference—both athletically and intellectually.
For fans and future recruits, the Academic All-Big 12 honors are a reminder that BYU offers a supportive environment for those who aspire to compete at the highest levels while preparing for life beyond basketball.
With new leadership under Coach Cummard and a roster filled with disciplined, high-character players, BYU Women’s Basketball is poised for a future where excellence in the classroom matches championship aspirations on the court.
