Once a promising middle blocker for the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ storied volleyball program, Kalynn Meyer has seamlessly transitioned her elite athleticism to the throwing circles of track and field, where she’s now aiming for one last, triumphant collegiate hurrah. Having made the full-time switch to track and field in February 2022, Meyer’s journey embodies the spirit of dedication and the pursuit of maximizing her athletic potential.
Meyer’s decision to focus solely on throwing was driven by a desire to pursue her Olympic dreams in the sport. This commitment has paid dividends, as she has steadily climbed the ranks in both the shot put and discus, becoming a formidable force in the Big Ten and on the national scene.
Her impressive trajectory in track and field has been marked by continuous improvement. Meyer has consistently delivered strong performances, earning accolades and setting personal bests throughout her time as a Husker thrower. In fact, she recently claimed the Big Ten title in women’s discus with a mark of 58.29m (191-3) at the 2025 Big Ten Outdoor Track & Field Championships. Beyond her Big Ten title, Meyer has achieved USTFCCCA First Team All-America honors in the shot put (2025 Indoor) and Second Team All-America in the discus (2024 Outdoor), showcasing her versatility and high-level consistency across both disciplines. She has also consistently been recognized for her academic achievements, earning Big Ten Distinguished Scholar and Academic All-Big Ten honors multiple times.
